About this Service
At Avenir Clinics, we offer advanced mole assessment and removal services designed to support early detection of skin changes and provide safe, effective treatment options when removal is required.
Our approach combines comprehensive Mole Mapping (Screening), in partnership with Map My Mole, alongside state-of-the-art cryosurgical mole removal using the renowned CryoPen®.
Mole Mapping (Screening)
Mole Mapping is a detailed skin screening process designed to identify, record, and monitor moles and other pigmented lesions across the body. This is an essential preventative service, as early detection of suspicious changes in the skin plays a vital role in skin cancer awareness and management.
During a Mole Mapping appointment, high-resolution images of your moles are captured and assessed using advanced diagnostic criteria. Each mole is carefully evaluated for asymmetry, border irregularity, colour variation, diameter, and evolution (commonly known as the ABCDE criteria). This allows for a structured and highly accurate assessment of your skin health.
Partnered with Map My Mole
At Avenir Clinics, our Mole Mapping service is partnered with Map My Mole, a leading UK-based skin screening service. This partnership ensures an exceptionally thorough and clinically robust screening process.
- Images and clinical data are reviewed by Consultant Dermatologists
- Advanced analysis provides an added layer of clinical reassurance
- A detailed digital report is returned within 48 hours, allowing for prompt guidance and next steps
- Results clearly indicate whether a mole appears benign, requires monitoring, or needs further medical investigation
- This efficient turnaround allows for peace of mind to be delivered quickly, without unnecessary waiting.
Mole Removal with Cryosurgery (CryoPen®)
For suitable benign moles and skin lesions, Avenir Clinics offers cryosurgical removal using the CryoPen®, a gold-standard medical cryotherapy device used worldwide.
Cryosurgery works by delivering a controlled jet of nitrous oxide to the targeted lesion, rapidly freezing the tissue and causing the abnormal cells to break down naturally. Over time, the treated area heals as healthy skin replaces the lesion.
Benefits of CryoPen® Mole Removal
- Highly precise treatment – surrounding healthy skin is left largely unaffected
- Quick procedure – treatments typically take seconds per lesion
- Minimal discomfort – most patients describe only a brief cold sensation
- No cutting or stitches – non-invasive and low risk
- Reduced scarring compared to traditional surgical methods
- Little to no downtime, allowing you to return to normal activities promptly
CryoPen® treatment is suitable for a wide range of benign moles and lesions, following appropriate clinical assessment.
Treatment Plan
Following a full assessment during your consultation, you will be advised on the most suitable treatment plan for your skin concerns and desired results, complete with detailed information about the procedure, the potential side effects and any pre- and post-treatment advice if having cryosurgery.
